Head of Sybil

This is a small study of Michelangelo’s
fresco, ’The Lybian Sybil’, in the Sistine
Chapel. I used oil paints to get a feel
similar to the original. I chose to copy
the head because it contained the most
detail and it looks so delicate. At first, I
nearly gave up and didn't want to finish
it because I was having difficulty with
blending the colours together, especially
the skin tones. However, I found a way to
master that little problem, so I carried on
and didn't want to stop until I'd finished.
I found this particular painting quite hard
because of not being used to oil paints.
However, this small piece helped me get
over my fears of using oils and blending
skin tones, and I am extremely happy
with the outcome.
