Introduction

Richard Burns is an international expert in delivering poetry workshops for people of all ages in more than a dozen countries. Most of these are for pupils in primary and secondary schools. The emphasis is on imaginative exploration and enjoyment. A trained linguist, he also has more than 30 years' experience as an educational methodologist, teacher trainer and lecturer in English language and literature.


Richard Burns also works
as a tutor in Continuing Education, and in Higher Education. As Preceptor in Writing Skills at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and as a Fellow of the Royal Literary Fund, he is an expert in teaching writing, study and examination skills and English for Academic Purposes. He regularly delivers one-to-one supervisions to university students, and gives talks, lectures and seminars.

ichard Burns's extensive experience in  education has been an influence on his own writing. His multicultural and multilingual poetry workshops, in particular, are among the influences which have led him to start work on a theoretical model for a universal poetics.
